A Dean Winter Labor Government will deliver a TassieDoc clinic in Kings Meadows.
This announcement will now give people in Launceston access to two 100% free GP clinics – with Ravenswood previously announced as a TassieDoc location.
Like all 10 clinics across the state, Labor’s Kings Meadows TassieDoc clinic will be:
-
Fully bulk-billed, with no out of pocket costs.
-
Open late, on weekends, and available via telehealth.
-
Staffed by doctors supported with recruitment and retention incentives.
In contrast, the Liberals have failed to match Labor’s 10 TassieDoc clinic announcement, they didn’t fund it in their costings and after 11 years they can’t be trusted to deliver better health outcomes for Tasmanians.
The response to Labor’s TassieDoc clinics has been overwhelming from local communities and the message has been clear: Tasmanians need cost-of-living relief, and they need access to see a doctor.
TassieDoc means a Tasmanian family could save up to $650 a year on GP visits, and all they will need is their Medicare card.
TassieDoc will be run by a State Labor Government and be supported by the Federal Labor Government’s increased investment in Medicare - because delivering better health outcomes is in Labor's DNA.
A Dean Winter Labor Government will also invest in the workforce to make this plan work – offering scholarships for midwives and incentives to recruit and retain doctors across the state – ensuring quality care is available in every community.
Tasmanians now face a clear choice: after 11 years under the Liberals, Tasmanians still struggle to access GP care. Labor will change that and will make it easier to see a doctor and for free.
It’s time for a fresh start — and the best way to change the government is to vote Labor.
