A Fresh Start for Health: Free GP clinic for New Norfolk as TassieDoc goes to 10

14 July 2025

A Dean Winter Labor Government will deliver a TassieDoc clinic in New Norfolk, as Labor doubles down on its commitment to establish 10 clinics across the state.
This announcement will give people in the Derwent Valley access to 100% free GP care, closer to home.
Like all 10 clinics across the state, Labor’s New Norfolk TassieDoc clinic will be:
  • Fully bulk-billed, with no out of pocket costs.
  • Open late, on weekends, and available via telehealth.
  • Staffed by doctors supported with recruitment and retention incentives.
In contrast, after 11 years in government the Liberals can’t be trusted to deliver any TassieDoc clinics at all.
Despite clambering to match TassieDoc when it was first announced, they’ve since called it pork-barrelling, they didn’t fund it in their costings and their track-record of delivering anything they promise is abysmal.
TassieDoc means real cost of living relief, alongside better access to care. A Tasmanian family could save up to $650 a year on GP visits, and all they will need is their Medicare card.
TassieDoc will be run by a State Labor Government and be supported by the Federal Labor Government’s increased investment in Medicare - because delivering better health outcomes is in Labor's DNA.
A Dean Winter Labor Government will also invest in the workforce to make this plan work – offering scholarships for midwives and incentives to recruit and retain doctors across the state – ensuring quality care is available in every community.
A clear choice has now emerged for Tasmanians when it comes to accessing GP care. After 11 years of Liberal government, Tasmanians shouldn’t have to wait any longer to see a doctor for free.
It’s time for a fresh start — and the best way to change the government is to vote Labor.
