Another reheated Liberal health announcement - with less funding and no credibility

01 July 2025

Today’s announcement by the Liberals is just another recycled press release from a tired government that’s run out of ideas – and now, out of money too.
It’s near word-for-word the same the promise the Liberals made at the last election – only this time, they’ve quietly cut $800,000 in funding and seemingly slashed car park spaces from the original North West Regional Hospital plan.
You can’t trust the Liberals on health. Their record is clear:
  • There are now 85,000 Tasmanians stuck on a health waiting list
  • Hospitals have been in crisis for years and staff are burnt out

  • Ambulance ramping is out of control

  • They have a plan to cut millions from health budgets

If the Liberals were serious about health, they would have started delivering on their promise – not dusted off an old media release and hoped Tasmanians wouldn’t notice.
Don’t look at what they say – look at what they’ve done. After 11 years, all they’re offering is more of the same.
It’s time for a fresh start and only Labor can deliver it.

Shadow Health Minister
