D-Day for TAFE cuts info as Liberal waste stays in spotlight
Labor will continue to hold the Liberals to account for 13 years of waste and the cuts they are making to pay for it this week in Parliament.
Tomorrow is the deadline for Minister Felix Ellis to table full details of how $45 million worth of cuts planned for TasTAFE will hurt the critical training organisation.
After 13 years of the Liberals, Tasmanians are paying the price for their waste with Premier Rockliff putting Eric Abetz in charge of gutting critical services like TasTAFE.
So far we’ve seen Minister Felix Ellis gaslight Tasmanians about the cuts, refusing to acknowledge their existence despite the TAFE CEO confirming the organisation must reduce spending by $45 million over four years.
This comes on the back of the Liberals’ decision last year to remove subsidies for 12 TAFE courses and cut nearly 20 jobs two days before Christmas.
TAFE is critical to training the workforce Tasmania needs, including tradies, health workers, carers and early years educators.
These cuts will decimate courses, threaten jobs, and undermine Tasmania’s skills pipeline, and must be reversed.
