Today’s Public Accounts Committee hearing highlighted that the Liberal minority government is still all at sea when it comes to the ferries fiasco.

Despite entering into a contract with BMD Constructions in July 2024, following a Ministerial Direction from Michael Ferguson and Eric Abetz, TT-Line is only just beginning to understand the extent of the work required.

To be clear, the Minority Liberal government, led by Jeremy Rockliff, is still yet to finalise a design for a construction project that should have been completed years ago.

TT-Line Chair Ken Kanofski also confirmed the beleaguered Berth 3 development is under 'cost pressure', which is code for likely blowouts.

Meanwhile, TT-Line’s finances continue to deteriorate because of the Rockliff Government’s incompetence and the company is sailing closer to a taxpayer-funded bailout from a government already on a path to nearly $10 billion in debt.

Labor has relentlessly held the minority Liberal government to account for its failings on the Spirits, and we won’t stop doing so until the ships are finally sailing passengers and freight across the Bass Strait.
