Greyhound uncertainty helps no one
Premier Rockliff sold out hundreds of working families for political expediency because he thinks keeping his job is more important than hard working Tasmanians keeping theirs.
For nine months, greyhound racing participants’ lives, businesses and families have been in limbo. It was all to culminate today with a vote on their future.
Communities, businesses, livelihoods have been put on trial and waiting for an outcome. This uncertainty helps no one.
In December, the Government was arguing the Bill was urgent and must be dealt with immediately. Now they’re delaying it indefinitely.
I am genuinely concerned about the toll this has taken on the mental health of participants. Many are on edge and they need to this uncertainty to stop.
Out of respect for everyone involved, on both sides of the argument, the Bill must be debated today or the uncertainty hanging over the heads of hundreds of families and businesses could drag on for months more.
