A Tasmanian Labor government will continue work with the state’s salmon industry to give it the certainty it has been calling for to ensure the future of this great industry and all the jobs it creates.
Tasmanian Labor has been unwavering in our support for the industry.
We have written to Salmon Tasmania (see attached), spelling out our support, including our commitment to Macquarie Harbour and the designated Storm Bay Growth area.
Unlike the Rockliff government, Labor will never impose new salmon taxes, never impose a moratorium and won't shut down Flow Through Hatcheries.
Just three weeks ago, Labor made a submission to the Federal Government’s review of salmon farming, also reiterating our support for the industry.
Certainty is vital. It builds confidence and trust.
In trying to politicise this issue during an election the Rockliff government has only created more confusion and uncertainty.
Tasmanian Labor look forward to continuing to work with industry to ensure its future and lock in the great jobs it creates in our regional communities.
