Yet another division has opened in the Tasmanian Liberal party – with Development Assessment Panels the latest issue to cause unrest within Premier Rockliff’s so-called team.
Earlier this week, while Planning Minister Felix Ellis was calling on Labor to support a bill which hadn’t even been finalised yet, Minister Madeleine Ogilvie said the Liberals were currently having a conversation with the community about the legislation – looking to see how it could be improved.
Yesterday, Premier Jeremy Rockliff also said the bill was unfinished and two former Liberal Mayors have called for it to be scrapped.
All this is happening 18 months after Premier Jeremy Rockliff promised it as a solution to the broken planning scheme the Liberals promised to fix a decade ago.
While the Liberals are clearly divided, Labor is united.
We stand for jobs, and we back development every day of the week.
When there are real proposals on the table to address the Liberals' failures with housing we'll obviously consider them - but until then we're not going to be drawn into Felix Ellis's juvenile games.
