Liberals limber up for stunning UTAS backflip

21 November 2024

Premier Jeremy Rockliff is limbering up for his second massive backflip in a week.

The Liberals have been busy behind the scenes negotiating to change position on UTAS once again so that instead of locking up the entire UTAS Sandy Bay Land, they’ll rezone parts of it to allow for the development of up to 2,000 homes.

The Liberals have tied themselves in knots with their policy by trying to appease the Sandy Bay anti-development set and keep Minister Madeleine Ogilvie happy.

This is a huge departure from the Liberals’ original position, and would be a big win for Labor who has strongly opposed the anti-development legislation for months.

While we welcome them finally seeing the light in support of housing, the way they have reached position is more proof that you can’t trust Jeremy Rockliff’s Liberals.
