Liberals still refusing to come clean on rorts
After 13 years of the Liberals, Tasmanians are paying for their waste through cuts to jobs and essential services.
Years on from the initial sports rorts scandal, serious questions remain about how Liberal MPs have handed out taxpayer money.
- Jane Howlett’s JackJumpers saga, and $300,000 legal bill.
- Madeleine Ogilvie’s rowing club grant.
- $1 million in taxpayer money being funnelled to Mark Shelton’s Bracknell Hall project.
- Guy Barnett’s dodgy distillery dole out.
While they waste money on political favours, Tasmanians are seeing cuts to the jobs and services they rely on.
Nobody has been held accountable, and nothing has changed.
Public money should be allocated through transparent, arm’s length processes – not through ministerial advocacy, special access, or quiet assurances to well-connected Liberal mates.
This is exactly why Labor has committed to banning pork barrelling. Under a LaborGovernment all grants will be assessed independently, which means no backroom deals, no political favours, and no ministers leaning on departments.
