The delay to the transition of Homes Tasmania into Building Tasmania has yet again exposed the frightening lack of planning behind the change.
The Minister responsible for the rebranded department still cannot explain what it is, how it will work, or which 250 Tasmanians will lose their jobs to pay for 13 years of Liberal waste.
The more we find out (or don’t find out) about Building Tasmania, the more apparent it becomes that the Premier’s flagship restructure had very little substance behind it when it was announced.
Labor supports ending the failed Homes Tasmania experiment, but given the way the Government is handling the transition, we have little faith the Liberals will be able to rein in 13 years of housing neglect.
Today, Minister Vincent needs to finally explain how the new structure will address the woeful housing outcomes Tasmanians have sadly become accustomed to under a Liberal Government.
Tasmanians need homes, but all they are getting from this Government is another thought-bubble without a plan to execute it.
