Tasmanians found out this morning that they are set to receive another power price hike from July 1.
This price rise will see average annual bills rise by close to $50, at a time when families are being forced to make tough decisions and watch every single dollar.
Since Jeremy Rockliff became Premier, power bills have gone up, and up, and up.
This latest price hike means Tasmanians will be paying nearly $500 more on their power bills since Jeremy Rockliff became Premier, following increases of $227 in 2022-23 and $201 in 2023-24.
After 11 years of the Liberals, power bills are now the highest they’ve ever been. And they’ll keep going up if the Liberals sell off our public energy assets.
Just three months ago, Jeremy Rockliff made privatisation the centrepiece of his State of the State speech. Two months ago, he told the Parliament he wouldn’t be dropping his privatisation plan because he believes in it.
The Liberals can’t be trusted with our energy assts, they've failed on power prices, and they've failed on cost of living.
It’s time for a Fresh Start under Labor.
