Premier continues to hide Scottish port costs from Tasmanians

27 November 2024

Jeremy Rockliff’s continual refusal to outline the cost of hiding Spirit of Tasmania IV in Scotland flies in the face of his claims of transparency and openness surrounding the bungled project.

Spirit of Tasmania IV is leaving Finland this week. It is incredible to think they haven’t already signed a deal.

The Liberals have already been exposed for ordering the new ships without building anywhere for them to berth – a blunder which has cost Tasmanians hundreds of millions of dollars.

Tasmanians know they will be paying the price of the Liberals Spirits disaster for generations to come, but we are still in the dark about exactly how much.

TT-Line has estimated the cost of storing the Spirits in Scotland to be $1.2 million a month.

With Spirit IV bound for Scottish shores this week, it’s time the Premier came forward with an updated cost.

Shadow Treasurer
