Rockliff can’t stop the infighting

13 August 2024

Liberal Party infighting has spilled out into the media again, as it has been reported that a second peace deal attempt has failed.

Jeremy Rockliff attempted to reinsert himself into the situation, but his new proposal was rejected without even being considered. Either the Premier can’t get his own party to listen to him, or his leadership is not respected. Either way, a damning reflection on his authority within the party.

Since joining the Liberal Party ranks in the Tasmanian Parliament, Eric Abetz has done his best to avoid any overt challenges to Jeremy Rockliff’s authority. It remains to be seen how long he can keep that streak going, especially during a battle close to home for the staunch Blomeley supporter.

The Liberal party are completely disintegrating, and every minute they spend on dealing with petty infighting, secret meetings and sour emails is time the Liberals are not devoting to the Tasmanian people.

It’s no wonder crucial matters like the budget, or new Spirits have turned into complete disasters – the Liberals don’t have their eye on the ball.

If the Liberals can’t manage themselves, how can they possibly manage Tasmania?
