Rockliff fails to guarantee Tasmanians aren’t funding Finnish naval build

11 June 2024

Jeremy Rockliff has failed to guarantee Tasmanians that taxpayer money given to shipbuilder RMC is going to the Spirits and not the Finnish navy.

The Finnish Government is currently refusing to comment on their bailout of the shipbuilder RMC, saying it is a national security matter.

RMC’s subsidiary is currently contracted to build ships for the Finnish navy.

If the Finnish Government’s bailout of RMC is not going into that project then why would it concern national security?

The Liberals’ handling of the Spirits replacement project has become an absolute debacle. With Jeremy Rockliff refusing to be upfront with Tasmanians, we will continue to search for answers through a parliamentary inquiry.
