While it was disappointing the Liberals voted against putting more money in the pockets of thousands of Tasmanian workers at a time when the cost-of-living is hitting harder than ever – one of them broke ranks.
‘I don’t want to speak against the right thing being done’ Minister Vincent shared in the Legislative Council last night.
Minister Vincent was ‘staggered’ and ‘amazed to first find out Tasmania was the only state that didn’t have the same penalty rates on an Easter Sunday as in any other state’.
The penalty rates will have an impact on his own business, yet he still seemed to believe it was the right thing to do.
It’s a shame Premier Rockliff listened more to Eric Abetz than he did to Kerry Vincent when he decided Tasmanians who give up Easter Sunday with their family to go to work, don’t deserve to be properly paid for it.
