Supporting Tasmanian public school staff on Public Education Day

23 May 2024

Today, on Public Education Day, Labor would like the thank the tireless efforts of Tasmania’s public school staff.

Our educators, support staff, cleaners and groundskeepers, and all the staff who keep our schools running go above and beyond each working day of the year – and often on their days off too – rarely with enough recognition for their efforts.

Labor stands for safe, secure and well-paid jobs and supports increased resourcing to make these possible in our schools.

We also know that to get students into good jobs after they finish school, there’s nothing more important than their education.

That’s why today, on Public Education Day, we’re reiterating our support for the AEU’s campaign for every school to be funded to one hundred per cent of the Schooling Resource Standard.

Shadow Minister for Education & Early Years
