To be fair to Minister Jaensch, he’s exactly right to say there wasn’t $200 million in the bank when Labor left office – there was actually $208 million.
Despite starting $208 million in the green, the Liberals have demonstrated that they can’t manage money.
After 11 years of Liberal mismanagement, Tasmania’s budget situation has never been worse and they’re on track to rack up nearly $10 billion of debt and their only solution is to sell-off Tasmania’s public assets which will just make matters worse.
Minister Jaensch should spend less time looking at old budget papers, and more time trying to convince the Premier to abandon his disastrous privatisation agenda.
