Where is Jo Palmer?

By Josh Willie MP - Labor Leader & Shadow Minister Education & Early Years

19 October 2026

Where is Jo Palmer?

Education Minister Jo Palmer has stayed silent while the Premier threw a school she once attended as a child under the bus.

Today she has the chance to apologise where he wouldn’t.

Christmas has not been cancelled, and the Premier knows it. The Education Department has confirmed the school’s end-of-year event will include class performances, Christmas carols, and a visit from Santa, just as it always has.

Instead, he wrote a letter that ended up in the media, took to social media, and punched down on a school community and its acting principal.

That tells you this was about politics and distracting from his government’s failures, not the kids.

As a former teacher, I know how hard our principals and teachers work. Every one of them is now watching, and every one of them knows this Liberal Government doesn’t have their back. Neither does their Minister.

Her silence has been deafening.

If the Premier won’t apologise, Jo Palmer should. She should make clear she stands behind our schools and teachers, and that she rejects this kind of divisive politics that hurts school communities.
