Who’s telling the truth on the Spirits?

01 March 2025

Jeremy Rockliff's minority Government is negotiating with a foreign government over the Spirits of Tasmania project for the second time in less than a year.

Last year the Liberals bailed out Finnish shipbuilder RMC with $80 million of Tasmanian taxpayers’ money, without telling anyone.

This year they are refusing to deny negotiating with the Scottish Government over the use of Spirit IV as a floating refugee camp. At the same time the Scottish Government appears to be denying it is happening at all.

Someone is lying. This doesn’t add up, Tasmanians aren’t being told the full truth about these negotiations.

Jeremy Rockliff needs to start telling the truth.

Labor will use every mechanism available to it in Parliament next week to get answers on behalf of Tasmanian taxpayers.
