Will Jeremy Rockliff keep denying the crisis – or admit it’s time for a Fresh Start?

02 July 2025

After 11 years of the Liberals, Tasmania is heading toward $13 billion of net debt, with annual interest payments of $700 million. The Liberals’ only plan so far is to sack 2,500 nurses, teachers, and essential workers.

Today is the day Jeremy Rockliff and the Liberals are legally required to release their Fiscal Strategy – and Jeremy Rockliff has one last chance to tell Tasmanians the truth.

Will he face up to the damage he’s done – or keep pretending everything is fine while the state hurdles towards financial disaster?

Labor has already released a clear, responsible Fiscal strategy to clean up the Liberals’ mess, with backing from business, unions, and the community sector.

Labor is ready to do the hard work. We are honest about the scale of the challenge – and serious about restoring Tasmania’s financial health.

Only Labor has a plan to fix the budget and deliver the Fresh Start Tasmania needs. A vote for the independents or the Greens risks another Liberal Government, with more denial, more debt, and more damage to Tasmania’s future.
