A fresh start for LGBTQIA+ equality

A fresh start for LGBTQIA+ equality Main Image

Key Points

A Dean Winter Labor Government will be a leading supporter of the rights of LGBTIQA+ people.

We will continue the work of previous Labor governments, and protect the rights of this community, their friends, families and allies.

Labor will:

  • Appoint a Minister for Equality
  • Ban conversion practices
  • Address hate motivated crimes

Why we need it

Under the previous Labor government, Tasmania went from the most unfriendly state for LGBTIQA+ people to one of the most welcoming.

But after 11 years of Liberal Government, progress has stalled and members of the Government have blocked progress on important reforms like banning conversion practices.

Labor will bring a fresh start for the LGBTIQA+ community.

“A Labor Government will support and protect Tasmania’s LGBTIQA+ community.”

The details

  • Review funding for Equality Tasmania
