Helen Polley

Senator

Helen Polley

Senator

Helen Polley has devoted her life to the labour movement and the rights of working people.

After joining the Party as a teenager Helen understood how important access to health, education and opportunity is to all Tasmanians.

Fighting for better pay and conditions, a stronger Medicare, local manufacturing and Tasmanian industries including tourism, agriculture, aquaculture and viticulture is in Helen’s DNA.

She believes frontline workers in the retail, hospitality and trucking industry are the backbone of the Tasmanian economy.

Helen is a fierce advocate for people living and working in the aged and the community care space as the former Shadow Assistant Minister for Ageing.

Helen was elected to the Senate for Tasmania in 2004, re-elected in 2010, 2016 and 2022. She is a mother of two and grandmother of seven.
