Kelly "Hooch" Hunt
Candidate for Braddon
Kelly "Hooch" Hunt lives in Forth and has spent his life working across Braddon. He has worked in the building industry and engineering sectors and then shift work at the Wesley Vale Paper Mill. After the mill closed, he helped run a Forest Industry led program supporting displaced workers, and later started a small business focused on outdoor and recreational products as a sales agent.
Most of his recent role has been with the peak body for recreational fishing in Tasmania (TARFish), advocating for community access and sustainable use of our marine resources.
He has always been community focused. He has volunteered for the Devonport Regatta committee and The Devonport Motor Show, surf lifesaving, local fishing and motorsport events, and has led initiatives like the School of Rocks rally program to get more young people and families involved in regional activities.
Hooch is putting his hand up because he cares deeply about Braddon and believes in Labor’s values of fairness, opportunity and strong public services. He wants to represent people who feel unheard - regional workers, small business owners, outdoor communities, and families who just want a fair go.
